IBS

“Take back control and regain Confidence and Freedom!”

Irritable Bowel Syndrome affects 1 in 5 people in the UK. It is difficult to diagnose and sufferers experience a wide range of symptoms which can range from mild to debilitating. This in turn can lead to stress, anxiety and even depression. The causes of IBS are unknown but IBS symptoms are reactive to a number of external psychological factors such as stress and anxiety. This can make it worse leaving the sufferer in a perpetual cycle and feeling very isolated.

There are dietary triggers for IBS and sufferers are given dietary advice and sometime medication is prescribed to help with reducing  the symptoms. Now thanks to the work of Peter Whorwell  (Professor of Medicine and Gastroenterology at University of Manchester) hypnotherapy has been recognised by the medical profession as an evidenced based therapy that can help with the symptoms of IBS. IBS is a gut-brain disorder. Understanding how our gut functions and that the gut has a brain (which responds to stimuli such as stress and anxiety) helps sufferers to manage their condition more effectively.

We can use our minds to influence gut function in a more desirable way and hypnosis is a collaborative approach aimed at helping you do this using various techniques  to help you take control over your symptoms.

Visualisation and relaxation techniques and self hypnosis are taught so that you regain control of your condition helping to create a better quality of life!
