Insomnia is a sleep disorder. This can be difficulty getting to sleep (type 1 insomnia)  or waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to get back to sleep (type 2 insomnia).  I think it’s fair to say we have all probably had some bouts of insomnia at some point in our life.  However, when this happens on a regular basis, it can cause disruption to our lives as we are unable to function at our best. A good night’s sleep is essential for the body and the mind.
